FarmX has developed a burgeoning network of farmers across the country. FarmX is active with:
Massive unchecked use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers in India is one of the biggest culprits poisoning the environment (soil, groundwater and the air.) It is also poisoning people and degrading life quality across the country. Available data has made it clear that chemical farming is a silent killer. India's wildlife and flora are equally, if not more, vulnerable to the excesses of chemical farming.
India's hospitals are flooded every day with new victims of cancer and other deadly diseases that are directly or indirectly caused by consuming the products of chemical agriculture and living in highly polluted environments .
In this national emergency, the most important step we can take to protect all life is to employ the techniques of organic farming and begin weaning Indian agriculture off of its chemical addiction
Innovative farmers with the means and the vision to make the switch to organic have already implemented these techniques with admirable results. A much larger number of farmers want to go organic, but they are frustrated by the discouraging prices of their produce in the agricultural market. It is one of the core functions of FarmX to make organic farming profitable and show farmers that it is possible to become sustainable and also do good business. We have conducted extensive market research and developed the expertise to lead the way. FarmX provides the facilities to sustainably address the farmer's issues at every step of the agricultural process, from production to distribution and market-linkages with an eye to protecting lives and the environment
77 years after Independence, farmers remain the most hardworking and the most vulnerable members of Indian society. Most of their problems are caused by natural calamities, against which they are still virtually defenceless, and by being forced to sell their products at dirt-cheap prices that don't even cover the cost of production. Financially, small farmers are the worst off. Less obvious but equally ruinous issues facing farmers have been identified by FarmX subject-experts. We are working to address these by offering FarmX as a platform to the problem-solvers.
Geographically Indicated products are special agricultural and traditional products recognised for the unique qualities they possess by virtue of being produced exclusively in specific regions of the world. They receive the GI Tag in recognition of their identity and to safeguard traditional producers. Consumers and traders benefit from the GI Tag because it guarantees the source and quality of the product. In the market, GI Tagged products are meant to fetch enhanced prices but this has rarely been the case because farmers and consumers have not been made aware of these benefits. FarmX is addressing this issue by filling the knowledge gaps in the GI sector. We anticipate a great opening-up of the domestic and export market once proper channels of education and awareness have been established at scale as well the resulting boost in farmer incomes.
Offering consumers verified products of good quality at fair prices is one of the biggest challenges in the Indian agricultural market. To make this possible, FarmX makes use of our nation-wide network of farmers. The FarmX network makes it possible for us to acquire products directly from the farmer and make them available to consumers, cutting out the artificial and inflationary practises of the middle-men endemic in the Indian agricultural market. On the FarmX platform, producers and consumers are linked in a relationship of trust and mutual benefit. We make it possible for farmers to receive good value for their produce and also platform products at lower-than-market prices for the consumer, guaranteeing pure, quality products in the process.
